Flowers for Algernon by Daniel Keyes

This was my first book by Daniel Keyes. It was great. I really like how Keyes brought out the character of a retarded 30 year old that is put through an operation to make him "normal".
This story brings out the questions should we be messing with what God gave us. If we did mess with our intellegence, how would our personality change if at all. Would we be grateful for science or would we dispise it. Would we go back to those that wronged us, and if so what would we say to them?

It was a little wordy as the character got over the heads of those that gave him the ability to think, but was very well written. I could not put it down and would recomend it to anyone.

There is a movie called Charly out there based on the book, but it is not as good. It leaves out a lot of good parts and is fabricated in places.
